COMPLETE: UTSA Durango Conference Center

Good morning and Happy 2018 everyone! Due to the icy conditions this morning, Fisher Heck's office will be closed today. We hope everyone that has to be out today, take precautions and stay safe. The weather today also gives us an opportunity to highlight one of our most recently completed higher education projects on the UT San Antonio downtown campus. The brand new UTSA Durango Conference Center held it's grand opening late last year in culmination with the 20th Anniversary of the opening of UTSA's downtown campus. The interior remodel project consisted of transforming existing first floor classrooms into five large conference rooms with reception area and warming kitchen. The university can now lease these spaces to various organizations, companies and community groups that might need lecture space, banquet space, meeting space, etc. The new multi-purpose rooms are equipped with complete audio/video systems, folding partitions and adjustable lighting packages.

Marc Johnson, Director of our Education Studio and lead designer on the project, put a lot of focus on creating a cohesive material pallet throughout the center. Subtle variations within each room give each one a unique identify, but also allowing them to be linked together by warm wood tones. As the school continues to grow, this new conference center will give the downtown campus a whole new purpose and community outreach opportunities.
