UPDATE: Karnes County Courthouse Restoration

Last week marked a major milestone for the Karnes County Courthouse Restoration project: the installation of the main structure for the reconstructed clock tower! Luckily Lewis and David were on site to capture the historic moment, seen in the video below. The 1894 courthouse went through an extensive renovation in the 1920's where the original turrets and clock tower were removed in favor of a more contemporary look for the building. The four turrets have since been rebuilt. Earlier this year, Karnes County received a grant from the Texas Historical Commission to restore the exterior and interior of the courthouse back to its 1894 character, including a reconstructed masonry clock tower that was designed based on historical photographs.
