Historic Homeowner Fair 2015
Happy Friday everyone! We just wanted to send out a quick reminder that the 7th annual Historic Homeowner Fair will be going on this Saturday, the 19th, at the Pearl Studio from 9:30am - 3:00pm. We hope to see you there!
This year, there will be a wide range of presentations on various topics from window repair to new construction in historic districts to xeriscaping. Among the presenters will be Councilman Roberto C. Trevino who will give a presentation on a new pilot program he is spearheading regarding energy conservation for homeowners. To the left is a brief schedule of the events this year, which is sure to have something for everyone working with a historic home.
Working on a historic building of any size can be a daunting task for owners and usually takes both an economic and sometimes an emotional commitment to see that their building continues on providing a useful purpose. Sometimes that can entail a massive restoration effort or can be as simple as choosing an appropriate paint color for the period of the building. When done right, the results can be immensely satisfying for the building's owner, tenants and the surrounding community.
