IN PROGRESS: Yanaguana Garden Gathering Areas
In addition to the 10 historic houses that Fisher Heck is stabilizing and rehabilitating within Hemisfair Park in downtown San Antonio, we are also working with the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) on two social gathering areas within the Yanaguana Garden that are meant to establish a true connection between several of the historic houses and adjacent play areas. This first gathering area includes an expansive, multi-level structure that will be shared between two historic homes, reinforcing a sense of community through a familiar design element - the wood deck.
Parents will be able to use this area as an observation deck while their children play in the near distance or as a shaded retreat on a warm summer day. The deck also allows future tenants of the historic houses to have access to a large outdoor seating area for food service, music events or public lectures, etc. The project is currently going through conceptual approval with HPARC and should be completed in time for Spring of 2015. We also look forward to sharing the second gathering area design with everyone very soon. In the meantime, feel free to click on the picture below for additional photos and information on the project.
