Reclaimed Flooring

A couple of months ago, it came to our attention that our wood flooring contractor for the 1896 Double Height Courtroom project had secured many of the southern yellow pine heavy timber beams there were being removed from the Joske's Building during their current renovation.  In doing so, we were offered the chance to reuse those beams for our wood floors in the courtroom, which are also specified to be pine!  Of course, we and the county jumped at the proposal and after working out some of the aesthetic details, we are moving forward with the reclaimed floors!  Recently, the San Antonio Express-News published an article about this aspect of the project, which can be found HERE.

In addition, we were able to take a little field trip to Woodco Millwork's shop here in San Antonio to see the whole process of milling down these huge beams into our new wood floor planks. Thank you to Peter, Warwick & Gareth George for the tour!
