Thoughts

The new High Flight Center at Blue Skies of Texas West is for the spiritual and cultural events of an active senior community located just outside west San Antonio.  Incorporating elements from the existing campus, exterior brick and stone volumes are the base for the diffused glowing light of clerestory and cupola windows and roof structure.  Interior finishes include exposed wood columns, beams, and ceiling in the nave.  Existing stained glass relocated from their current chapel, shines a spectrum of color into the new narthex.  Collaboration with the committee during design resulted in provisions for a courtyard statue, and liturgical furniture for spiritual services created by resident artists.
