Thoughts
Situated across a sprawling 45-acre campus in one of San Antonio’s fastest-growing corridors, this project was born from an urgent need to house a rapidly flourishing faith community. Our architectural response was the design of a massive 1,700-seat sanctuary that not only meets immediate demands but is strategically engineered for a future expansion phase to accommodate up to 3,000 parishioners. Because the site borders a major thoroughfare, the church leadership desired a design that would serve as a prominent, unavoidable landmark for travelers at all hours of the day and night.
To meet this challenge, we integrated a signature 123-foot stone cross tower at the building's primary corner—a soaring, monolithic beacon that is visible from miles away and firmly anchors the church’s identity within the urban landscape. The exterior is wrapped in heavy stone to convey a sense of permanence, tradition, and architectural strength. This rugged exterior is beautifully offset by a vast wall of glazing positioned directly behind the altar. This transparent backdrop currently allows natural light to bathe the sanctuary, while providing a structural framework that will gradually be filled with vibrant stained glass over time, allowing the building’s artistry to evolve and grow alongside its congregation for generations to come.
