Facts

The basilica was built in 1931 as the first shrine in the United States dedicated to the newly canonized St. Therese of Liseux, known as the Little Flower. By the 1990's the church and attached monastery began to have problems of ground water and structural movement causing serious damage to both structures. We were hired to prepare an interim study that would specify both long range and immediate projects that would complete the restoration of the interior of the church, the rehabilitation of the monastery, and the development of the church’s basement into usable spaces. Upon completion of the master plan, we were retained to see the recommendations of the plan through design and construction.
