St. Peter Prince of the Apostles
Catholic Church

In an effort to revitalize the parish of St. Peter’s, FisherHeck was retained to do a master plan study for the church in 1989. Since a fire had destroyed the original roof in the 1950’s, a series of inappropriate renovations and additions had been undertaken.

With liturgical consultant, Fr. Ken Hannon, a professor of liturgy and sacramental theology at Oblate Seminary, FisherHeck developed a master plan that addressed architectural changes to support current Catholic liturgy within the worship space, improved seating comfort, refined the acoustics of the church, increased light levels, and provided better access for disabled persons.

A new Narthex, accessible to those in wheelchairs was created at the front of the church. This entry space contains the font, symbolic of entering the church through baptism. To support the church’s music program, a new tracker pipe organ was incorporated behind the Chancel platform. A new Blessed Sacrament Courtyard and Chapel were created to provide a place of special devotion for housing the Tabernacle and conducting daily mass.
