The Shrine of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina Master Plan
Located in North Central San Antonio, the Shrine of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina will sit on 29 acres of densely wooded land.
Fisher Heck was hired to design the master plan for the church and took advantage of the site’s natural features. Only unnecessary trees were sacrificed and the remaining ones were used to provide both a visual and sound barrier from the surrounding sites.
The complex is to be built in phases and will include the church, parish hall, outside worship area, school, full size gymnasium, child development center and athletic fields. The future building will be built around a large open plaza reminiscent of those found in Italian hilltowns.
The church, parish hall and a 75 foot bell tower anchoring the southwest corner of the plaza will be built in phase one. Remaining buildings will be built in later phases a fund raising generates additional capital.
