Let The Demolition Begin!

On a crisp, cool Wednesday morning, the beginning of the end to the infamous "Gondeck Addition" to the historic Bexar County Courthouse kicked off with the ceremonial removal of the first three granite panels.  The demolition of the addition and exterior restoration will restore the building back to its 1926 roots.  The event was lead by Betty Bueche of Bexar County Facilities and Parks with contributing speeches from Judge Nelson Wolff, Commissioner Tommy Atkinson, and Sharon Fleming from the Texas Historical Commission.  Fisher Heck Architects were recognized for their joint project of restoring an 1896 two-story courtroom on the north end of the building.  In a few months this building is going to look totally different!  Below are some photos from the event.
